U.S. News Media Group Announces Carbon-Neutral Environmental Guide

- Spring issue to be printed on manufactured carbon-neutral paper -

WASHINGTON, Feb. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- U.S. News Media Group, one of the nation's leading sources of news and service journalism, today announced that it will print its 2009 Environment & Energy guide on manufactured carbon-neutral paper. The magazine, scheduled to go on newsstands March 24, 2009, will include reports on energy policy, environmental resources, new technologies, and more.

U.S. News has decided to print the April issue, on high-quality paper that comes from a Catalyst Paper mill having extremely low emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases. And by participating in the "Catalyst Cooled" program, U.S. News is paying for carbon offsets, in the form of a park-reforestation program, that make the paper carbon neutral.

"U.S. News has been looking for ways to reduce our carbon footprint," said Mark W. White, Vice President of Manufacturing. "We're applaud the efforts Catalyst has made to reduce its carbon footprint while maintaining the quality of its paper. And we're especially pleased to be using paper that is not only manufactured carbon neutral but also certified as being sourced from sustainably managed forests."
