SOBeFiT Magazine Promotes its Launch With First Annual 5K Run+Walk & Fitness Festival in South Beach

MIAMI, Feb. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- SOBeFiT Magazine, the first South Florida publication dedicated to providing expert advice on the topics of fitness, nutrition, health and sports for men and women, will host its sold-out, first annual 5K Run+Walk & Fitness Festival in South Beach presented by The Sports Club/LA, as part of the series of events that celebrate the publication's recent launch.

On February 8th, 2009, hundreds of runners and fitness enthusiasts will gather on 8th Street and Ocean Drive to take part in this family-friendly event, to walk or run along some of South Beach's most famous streets, taking in the sights and sounds of the Art Deco neighborhood and enjoying the cool ocean breeze. Race-day registration will be available from 6:00 am to 7:15 am, and the runners will take to the street at 7:30 am sharp.

Setting the pace along the way will be Marta Montenegro, the Editor-in- Chief and driving force behind SOBeFiT Magazine. Montenegro conceptualized the event more than a year ago as a celebration of South Florida's commitment to improve its fitness, nutrition, health and sports activity, which are also the core topics of the publication.

Montenegro adds that this race is a dream come true in many aspects. "After participating in so many runs and half-marathons, the fact that I'm able to share this particular race with so many like-minded people from my team and my community gives me great hope for this publication, since it marks the achievement of many of our short-term goals and gets us ready for the challenges that lie ahead of us," she exclaims.

A bevy of health and fitness activities will be awaiting the participants at the post-race festival area on the beach, where attendees can enjoy calming chair massages, complimentary stretch sessions and a variety of health screenings. Activities for adults and children alike include an interactive tennis serve cage, Hole-in-One putting competitions, face painting, and arts and crafts stations. Marta will host a post-race pancake breakfast, alongside one of her favorite SOBeFiT contributors, former Miami Dolphin and current restaurateur John Offerdahl.

Awards will be given in the following categories: Top 3 Male/Female overall, Top 3 Male/Female Masters, Top 3 Male/Female Wheelchair, and Top 3 Male/Female in each of the 13 age divisions. $3000 in cash prizes will be awarded to top runners.

Sponsors of the race include State Farm's 50 Million Pound Challenge, U Wellness Center & Programs, Pasha's Healthy Mediterranean Cuisine, Fit Source Training Solutions, Offerdahl's Cafe Grill, Y-100, Sister to Sister Foundation, Next Generation Waters, and Cliff Drysdale Tennis.

Official results from the SOBeFiT Magazine 5k Run+Walk will be posted at www.runmiami.com after the event.

About MPG Publishing

SOBeFiT is the first title from MPG Publishing. Our parent company is ABA Capital Group, an investment holding firm formed in Spain in 2008. However, the company began in 1990 when Venezuelan entrepreneur, Enrique Auvert, and three other partners launched ABA Mercado de Capitales, the first broker dealer in western Venezuela. After promoting its first mutual fund in 1992, ABA shifted its focus towards investment banking with a market emphasis on private equity acquisitions. The early years of the current decade saw ABA concentrating its growth strategy on the acquisition of companies in the financial, oil, cattle and ranching, construction and capital goods sectors. By 2005, the group initiated an expansion outside of Venezuela upon becoming majority stockholder in Asesorias e Inversiones, a broker dealer in Colombia. That same year, ABA promoted ABA Global Fund SPC, a Cayman Islands private equity fund. Since then, the fund has been the vehicle for the group's expansion in the United States, Panama, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Barbados and British Virgin Islands.
